Primary Playground – 2014

After receiving $27,642.94 back from the government for the Intermediate playground that had already been paid for and installed in 2011, the PAC put the government funds, plus about $14,000 more, into building a new primary playground.  Our parent community came together again to build the playground.

Zen Garden – 2014

The PAC donated $3,000 to transform the interior courtyard to a “Zen Garden”.

The courtyard beside the library was transformed into a Japanese-Zen-Garden inspired outdoor space for Hawthorne students and staff to enjoy. This project was brought to the PAC in April 2013 by Mr. Bourgeois (grade 6/7 teacher) who was passion      ate about creating a tranquil, inspirational and usable space. Thanks to an inspired teacher and the collective fundraising efforts of our families, this project showcases what happens at our school when our community works together.   A special thanks to “Delta Heat”, the baseball team that installed the new garden.       Thank You!

Over the years, the PAC has purchased many pieces of technology for Hawthorne.

  • 1 ipad purchased for each division (18) – 2013
  • 5 ipads for the learning assistance classroom – 2013
  • 5 ipads for the library for students to sign out – 2013
  • 15 ipads to add to the libraries 5 – 2013
  • + more

Vegetable Garden

Initial funds were given to help create the garden and $1000 each year is available to support this amazing and enriching program.  The garden is overseen by our amazing Mrs. Bohmert.
